The weather may still be delightful, but the pace at which the holiday season is approaching is frightful. So we spent a warm, sunny September day with our long-time professional photographer, Mel Brown Photography, shooting some seasonal lifestyle photos to get ourselves in the mood (and get our content in order!).
In a gorgeous home borrowed from one of the original Initially London founders, we had the best time setting up Christmas early, early, early... and then taking it down again to pack away for a couple of more months.
A lifestyle product shoot takes a lot of advance planning to ensure each shot is mapped out, designed, propped and laid out for the photographer. The content team here at Initially London prepared a running order for the day with all the target shots they wanted to achieve.
We then got to work making sure the relevant products were sampled in fonts that showcased the best of the product's material, shape and colour.
Props were gathered including gift wrapping materials for the Christmas Eve present wrapping shots, food for the kitchen shots, flowers and crockery for the dinner table photos, and lots and lots of Christmas decorations.
The weather was too nice to pass up the opportunity to take some fine-weather entertaining photos in the garden. So indoors was all green and red, and outdoors all herbs and florals. Of course we're following behind Mel and her long-lens Nikon, boom lighting and all the professional gear, but with our iPhones... no gear, all idear.
So here's the photo that sums up the day: taken by a girl, of a girl taking a photo of a girl, taking a photo of a girl...
